Ikea Idea

Asymmetrical but mercurial, this is an ad created for IKEA to help flog a Benno CD/DVD Tower. Squint and you’ll see a crossword swim out of the furniture, with movie and CD clusters creating the black squares. Not sure if you can read the clues that hang below the creation, but they all share a musical theme, with Bono, Arctic Monkeys and Johann Sebastian Bach all scoring a gig.
Can’t recall a smarter use of a crossword in Ad Land. Sure puts paid to the toilet-paper puzzle promoting eco-friendly practices I saw in Safeway last February. Can’t tell you the brand (proof of the puzzle’s flop), but I did shiver to read the solving advice: Start From The Bottom Up. As for the compiler? Teresa Green.
