Opaque Trio
Okay, brave hearts, time to roll out three Paul clues that still leave me stumped, long after their answers have been revealed. Kudos to anyone who shed a ray of light:
Hunter requires variations = NIMROD
“If victory’s British, I’m Batman!” = TAX COLLECTOR
Pensioner’s bedside companion half unsure about support put in place = FALSE TEETH
Any insights welcome

Passing by in lunchtime idle surfing…
Nimrod is a hunter in the Bible and one of Elgar’s Enigma variations - the one that’s used in the UK at funerals and similar solemn occasions.
“VATMAN” punning on Batman is informal for a collector of VAT = Value Added Tax.
“Pensioner’s bedside companion” is the def., the wordplay is two containers, with one anag. mixed in - (TEE = support (n.) - golf, in SET = place) in FAL/H = “half unsure”.
(The site I’ve linked to includes a link in turn to one called “fifteensquared” where Paul and other Guardian puzzles are analysed.)

Fifteensquared isn’t mine, though I do contribute to it. It was inspired by one which I started for the puzzles in the Times - http://community.livejournal.com/times_xwd_times/ . Those doing this puzzle in the Australian might find it useful, though you need to look back about 6 weeks as there’s a syndication delay.
