Restless Flower
Impatiens is a type of flower. Not only does the Wiki entry provide a purple snapshot of the plant http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impatiens but also lists a dozen varieties of this humble bloom, including touch-me-not balsam and policeman’s helmet.
Not sure if I could enter The Einstein Factor with ‘impatiens’ as my pet subject, but I do feel a tad clearer on the issue, after despairing for the definition found in the latest Macquarie Dictionary:
“Any of a genus, Impatiens, of annual plants having irregular flowers in which the calyx and corolla are not clearly distinguishable.”
No less distinguishable than the same bloom’s description, you have to say.
Anyhow, that’s the most gettable word from last week’s post sorted. Without peeking at any tome or erudite website, will you dare to define one or more of the other words – imparipinnate, rupture wort, hapax legomenon or Poisson’s ratio – before I disperse the haze?
