Modern Maladies - ZUSCEPTIBILITY

ZUSCEPTIBILITY – Generation Z – or today’s maturing teen – is disproportionately prone to life’s incidental pathogens for reasons of long-term hygienic isolation. Where yeast once made bread rise, the same fungus can trigger atopic dermatitis in the modern adult.

Devoid a germ-rich childhood, this new breed will contract Chlamydia from a greasy spoon, E Coli from passive smoking…while a peanut is a stun grenade. (Tellingly, cotton wool seems the age-group’s only non-irritant.) Doctors would be wise to prescribe a game of British bulldog on wet gravel, snot, a pre-loved Vegemite sanga plus 100mls of girl (or boy) germs.
