Xmas is here, and every second ho-ho-home in Melbourne is going fruitcake. That’s if the roll-call collated by the Derek Guille evening show at 774 ABC holds any reindeer water.

Snoop http://www.abc.net.au/melbourne/stories/s1512995.htm and you’ll be lost in a blizzard of polyurethane snow.

Some 30 suburbs are on the list, a few with eye-popping snapshots, most with glitzy details, such as fibre-optic trees, smoke machines, multi-nozzle bubble guns and a 20-inch mirror ball.

Glory be, there are snowmen in Croydon, a gingerbread house in Blackburn and dancing Xmas trees at Stringbark Estate. According to witness reports, Santa has his workshop in Wantirna, while the Polar Express is stranded on a roof in Caroline Springs.

Do you know of any other way-way-out-there Xmas capers? I could nominate the Frosty platoon illuminated on Hat Hill Road in Blackheath, in Sydney’s Blue Mountains. Or the present-bearing eucalypt of Mooroopna, west of Shepparton. Let us know of any other Yule hijinks before the turkey’s neck is wrung.
